Earthjustice International is looking for a Managing Director

We are advising Earthjustice International in the appointment of its founding Managing Director.

Earthjustice International (“EJI”) is a newly established Swiss nonprofit association headquartered in Geneva. EJI was created to provide a permanent, independent organizational platform to support and facilitate international public-interest environmental legal advocacy with Earthjustice (EJUS). EJI and EJUS are separate legal entities, each with its own governance, leadership, finances, and legal obligations, but will work closely together to advance environmental protection in the international context.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior, practical institution-builder to establish EJI from the ground up and position it for long-term impact. The Managing Director will serve as EJI’s chief executive and legal representative in Switzerland, primary representative in Geneva, and principal liaison to EJUS across program, finance, legal, development, and operational functions.

The successful candidate will bring sound judgment, operational discipline, cross-cultural fluency, and the ability to build durable systems in a start-up environment. The role will require hands-on leadership across governance, finance, compliance, HR, partnerships, fundraising, and external representation. Candidates should have at least 10 years of senior management experience in international nonprofit, legal, or advocacy organizations; demonstrated experience building or scaling an organization, office, or major function; strong fundraising capability; familiarity with Swiss association law and international NGO governance; and fluency in English and French.

The closing date is July 31, 2026.
