Permanent employee
The Junior Fundraising Officer supports the day-to-day operations of FSD’s fundraising department and reports directly to the Fundraising Manager. The role works closely with colleagues across the fundraising, communications and operations teams, and is responsible for maintaining regular contact with donors while contributing to the smooth and efficient running of fundraising activities. Key areas of responsibility include donor relations, donation fulfilment, CRM updates, data processing and logistical support.
The employee manages incoming and outgoing communication with donors by phone, email and mail, prepares and adapts donor communications when needed, and helps ensure that donor records are accurately maintained in the CRM. The role also ensures the timely sending of thank-you communications to donors, responds to donor requests and contributes to strengthening donor loyalty through high-quality service and follow-up.
A significant part of the position focuses on the administrative follow-up of donations and database management. This includes validating daily transactions, reconciling and identifying donations received through different channels, updating and enriching donor records, checking the quality of digital data and ensuring that overall data is correctly reflected in reports and in the CRM. The role also includes archiving donation forms and supporting accurate data handling in line with internal fundraising processes.
The Junior Fundraising Officer also provides logistical and administrative support to fundraising operations. This includes coordinating material requests, organising orders in a cost-effective manner, tracking inventory, monitoring expenses linked to the allocated budget, managing fundraising mail dispatch, and preparing data extracts for internal needs. The role may also support the development of communications and collaterals for agencies.
In collaboration with the Fundraising Manager and the Head of Fundraising, the employee contributes to donor acquisition and retention efforts, including identifying and qualifying potential partners for direct marketing and street fundraising activities, supporting partnership prospecting, preparing outreach materials, monitoring campaign performance, and contributing to the implementation of donor retention and cultivation campaigns. The role also participates in fundraising and communication meetings, reports on relevant KPIs, and supports other fundraising-related activities as required by management.
The position is based at FSD Headquarters in Geneva. Due to the nature of the role, which involves regular handling of sensitive donor data as well as administrative tasks requiring physical presence, no home office is permitted. The role follows office working hours aligned with switchboard coverage and may require flexibility depending on operational needs.
FSD (Fondation suisse de déminage) is a humanitarian non-governmental organisation, founded in Geneva in 1997, dedicated to protecting civilians from landmines and explosive remnants of war.
FSD teams locate and destroy explosive ordnance, raise awareness about the dangers of mines and unexploded ammunition, and support victims of accidental explosions.
Over the years, FSD has expanded its scope to address urgent needs in post-conflict environments, including environmental decontamination, sustainable agriculture, and capacity-building initiatives.
Headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland), FSD currently employs close to 650 staff across four continents and has operated in over 30 countries. Since its founding, FSD teams have cleared more than 1.5 million explosive devices, preventing deadly accidents, enabling reconstruction, facilitating the return of displaced populations, and supporting agricultural recovery.
FSD is ISO 9001-certified and holds the ZEWO quality label, ensuring ethical and efficient use of donations.
