Junior Professional Officer

Mission

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is offering a full-time position, to a recent graduate in international relations, politics, development or a related field (or who possesses relevant vocational qualifications and project management experience). This position will be specifically dealing with events, projects and activities and will include coordinating events and visits, assisting with internal and external communication and reporting activities and providing overall administrative support to the Global support Group.

Under the supervision of the Project & Team Manager, the Junior Professional Officer, Global Support Group works closely with colleagues within the department and cooperates with other internal stakeholders, including the Director’s Office, GCSP’s Programmes, and other support services such as Administration, Finance, ICT, and Human Resources.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and logistical support to activities within the center;
• Coordinate events, visits and workshops including make presentations;
• Manage the reception and welcome desk;
• Establish and maintain documentation and databases, ensure project documentation is up to date and accurate;
• Prepare updates, reports and contribute to internal communication;
• Organise and attend both internal and external meetings;
• Communicate and coordinate with colleagues, guests and customers in a professional manner that reflects the values and aims of the Centre.

Required Education

• A university degree in an area related to international security, law, social sciences, political science or business or public administration.

Experience

• Ideally 1–2 years of relevant experience;
• An experience in events management and/or hospitality environment would be a real asset;
• Experience in an international or multicultural environment is an asset.

Desired Skills

• Fluency in spoken and written English and French is required;
• Great communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications: Word, Excel, Teams & Outlook;
• Flexible, with a positive attitude;
• Strong organisational skills and detail-oriented;
• Ability to multi-task;
• Reliable, proactive and motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
• Ability to interact with colleagues, partners and customers from diverse professional sectors and cultures; respect for diversity;
• Interest and understanding of the non-profit sector.
