The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
The Law and Policy Outreach Unit leads the ICRC’s online and onsite outreach to law and policy circles in support of influencing key actors and decision-makers on humanitarian issues. It brings together multidisciplinary outreach capacities encompassing the Humanitarian Law and Policy Blog, as well as the work on online platforms, in-site and online events and digital promotion strategies.
Relying on the expertise and substance developed within the broader Department, the unit:
The Law and Policy Outreach is offering a one-year paid position for an Associate entailing the following tasks: internal and external communications, digital content marketing, web editing and publishing, contact and information management, and analytics. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Head of Unit and in close collaboration with other team members.
Under the supervision of the Head of Unit, the Law and Policy Outreach Associate will support the implementation of the Law & Policy digital outreach strategy, maintain and expand LDP_ARCLIB_ORE’s digital outreach tools and provide promotion and production support to LDP_ARCLIB_ORE Tools, activities and events throughout the year.
Please note that this is a Geneva-based traineeship and that no housing allowance will be granted. Only short-listed candidates will be notified. At a further stage, selected candidates will be contacted for interviews through online conference calls. An online test will be part of this final solicitation process.
The ICRC values diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
At the ICRC, we value impact, collaboration, respect, and compassion. We seek candidates who demonstrate behaviors based on these shared values. For more information on the ICRC values, please visit this page.
ICRC is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from qualified candidates regardless of disability, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, race, colour or ethnic and national origins, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.
