The Secretariat employs 225 staff at headquarters in Gland and over 1,000 staff across more than 40 global locations.\n\n## Role Overview\n\nThe Head of Financial Services manages a seven-person team within the Global Finance Group and reports directly to the CFO. Core responsibilities span accounting operations, treasury management, financial process development, and financial systems oversight for a multinational organization.\n\n## Key Responsibilities\n\n### Accounting Function Management\n\n- Oversee data integrity of global financial accounts and headquarters transaction recording\n- Manage month-end and year-end close processes across 50+ countries\n- Produce consolidated annual IUCN Financial Statements adhering to Swiss GAAP\n- Manage hosted organization accounting (including Ramsar)\n\n### Treasury and Cash Management\n\n- Actively manage global cash to meet operational needs and minimize counterparty risks\n- Manage foreign exchange risk through hedging strategies\n- Oversee longer-term financial investments\n\n### Financial Processes and Internal Control\n\n- Develop accounting and financial policies across the Secretariat\n- Establish internal control frameworks ensuring asset protection and fraud prevention\n- Manage financial risk in alignment with organizational risk appetite\n- Oversee procure-to-pay, income, fixed assets, travel\u002Fexpense, and partner payment processes\n- Coordinate external audit processes\n\n### Financial Systems\n\n- Act as business owner for ERP financial components including general ledger, accounts payable\u002Freceivable, fixed assets, cash management, and travel\u002Fexpense modules\n- Lead financial process automation and digitalization initiatives\n- Participate in ERP and information systems strategy development\n\n### Team and Budget Management\n\n- Prepare and manage Financial Services annual budget\n- Recruit, mentor, and appraise team members\n- Coordinate with regional offices on finance staffing\n- Support CFO reporting to Finance and Audit Committee\n\n## Requirements and Qualifications\n\n### Professional Credentials\n\n- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA)\n- Audit experience to manager level\n\n### Experience\n\n- Minimum 15 years' relevant experience including 5 years in senior financial positions\n- Multicurrency, multicompany, and analytical accounting systems expertise\n- Management experience in multinational, multicultural environments within commercial or international organizations\n- Process improvement and integrated financial systems implementation background\n- Statutory financial reporting experience using internationally recognized frameworks\n- Treasury management experience\n\n### Competencies\n\n- Effective communication and interpersonal skills\n- Ability to manage diverse teams across multiple locations\n- Proactive, results-oriented approach with solid prioritization abilities\n- Excellent English oral and written communication; good French knowledge preferred\n- Strong analytical and report writing capabilities\n- Team player mentality with service-oriented mindset\n\n## Compensation\n\nThe gross annual salary ranges from CHF 134,355 to CHF 167,944, subject to social security deductions, second-pillar pension contributions, and taxation.\n\n## How to Apply\n\nApplicants must apply online through IUCN's HR Management System by pressing the \"Apply\" button on the vacancy announcement.
