L'Institut des Sciences de l'Environnement (ISE) et son Pôle de gouvernance de l'environnement et du développement territorial (PGEDT) ouvrent une inscription pour un poste d'assistant-e.

Il s'agit d'un poste à 75% comprenant (cf. cahier des charges joint) :

• 1. la réalisation d'une thèse de doctorat rattachée à la Faculté des sciences de la société;
• 2. des tâches d'assistanat dans le cadre des enseignements : E4E253 MTH Géomatique 1, T406090 GEOTOOLS-Data, E4E216 BES Climate action in practice : nature-based solutions, mitigation and adaptation;
• 3. des tâches administratives;
• 4. une participation active à la vie du Pôle de gouvernance de l'environnnement et du développement territorial.

La recherche doctorale devra porter sur des thématiques de l'environnement ou du développement durable telles que les limites planétaires, les risques liés aux changements environnementaux, les solutions basées sur la nature, avec un intérêt particulier pour les approches combinant des méthodes qualitatives et quantitatives, géospatiales.

Titre et compétences exigés

• Master en sciences de l'environnement, géographie, sciences politiques, sciences de l'environnement, développement territorial, urbanisme, sociologie, socio-économie ou autre titre jugé équivalent.
• Maîtrise du français et de l'anglais (au minimum une langue niveau C1 et l'autre B1).
• Capacité de réflexion théorique et critique, compétences en approches quantitatives et de modélisation.

L'assistant-e est nommé-e pour une première période de 2 ans; la nomination est renouvelable pour deux périodes successives, respectivement de 2 ans et de 1 an. Le poste est financé sur fonds du Département de l'instruction publique (DIP).

La première année constitue une période d'essai au cours de laquelle il peut être mis fin aux rapports de service moyennant le respect d'un délai de résiliation de 3 mois pour la fin d'un mois.

Job description

The Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE) and its Pôle de gouvernance de l'environnement et du développement territorial (PGEDT) open an assistant position.

This is a 75% position comprising (cf. Terms of Reference attached) :

• 1. the completion of a doctoral thesis at the Geneva School of Social Sciences;
• 2. assistantship (mainly in French) for the following courses E4E253 MTH Géomatique 1; T406090 GEOTOOLS-Data, E4E216 BES Climate action in practice : nature-based solutions, mitigation and adaptation;
• 3. administrative tasks;
• 4. active participation in the activities of the Pôle de gouvernance de l'environnement et du développement territorial.

The doctoral research should focus on environmental or sustainable development topics such as planetary boundaries, risks associated with environmental change, and nature-based solutions, with a particular interest in approaches combining qualitative and quantitative, geospatial methods.

Necessary skills and requirements

• Master's degree in environmental sciences, geography, political science, environmental sciences, territorial development, urban planning, sociology, socio-economics or other title deemed equivalent.
• Fluency in French and English (at least one language level C1 and the othe B1).
• Ability to think theoretically and critically, skills in quantitative approaches and modelling.

Job interviews are scheduled for April 2026.

The assistant shall be appointed for an initial period of 2 years; the appointment shall be renewable for two successive periods of 2 years and 1 year respectively. The post is financed from funds of the Département de l'instruction publique (DIP) of the Canton de Genève.

The first year is a probationary period during which service may be terminated subject to a three-month notice period for the end of one month.
