Social Media Intern

Organization: UNRISD (United Nations Research Institute for Social Development)
Location: Geneva, Switzerland – Palais des Nations (in-person)
Contract: Internship (unpaid)
Duration: 4–6 months (May 4 – September 11, 2026)
Deadline: 9 April 2026

Responsibilities

The intern will support the Communications & Outreach unit by:

• Managing a social media content calendar and publishing platform-optimized posts
• Producing multimedia assets — videos, graphics, social cards, and written copy
• Drafting outreach materials such as newsletters and factsheets
• Tracking digital trends in social media and communications
• Assisting with campaigns and events
• Delivering monthly analytics reports on website and social media performance

Requirements

• Background in marketing, communications, or a similar discipline
• Familiarity with platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, BlueSky and YouTube
• Strong English writing and editing skills
• Analytics tools knowledge is advantageous
• Graphic design or video editing experience is a plus
• Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a university program (Bachelor's level minimum, within one year of graduation)
• Must be based in or able to attend meetings in Geneva
